Toward an efficient solution for dynamic ad hoc network interoperability
An ad hoc network is formed by an impromptu grouping of network capable nodes. The nodes forming the network have unconstrained mobility, and so provide a dynamic network topology. Current work in this research area has focused on designing routing protocols capable of efficiently forwarding packets in these dynamic network environments. This has led to several designs for ad hoc routing protocols based on various routing algorithms, each suited to specific usage characteristics. This paper will discuss issues relating to routing in ad hoc networks. We will describe an active networking based solution that provides dynamic routing protocol interoperability and enables migration of nodes between ad hoc groups. Our design is motivated by a squad and base scenario which consists of two groups wishing to communicate. These groups have contrasting deployment characteristics and so use different routing protocols
Towards Opportunistic Data Dissemination in Mobile Phone Sensor Networks
Recently, there has been a growing interest within the research community in developing opportunistic routing protocols. Many schemes have been proposed; however, they differ greatly in assumptions and in type of network for which they are evaluated. As a result, researchers have an ambiguous understanding of how these schemes compare against each other in their specific applications. To investigate the performance of existing opportunistic routing algorithms in realistic scenarios, we propose a heterogeneous architecture including fixed infrastructure, mobile infrastructure, and mobile nodes. The proposed architecture focuses on how to utilize the available, low cost short-range radios of mobile phones for data gathering and dissemination. We also propose a new realistic mobility model and metrics. Existing opportunistic routing protocols are simulated and evaluated with the proposed heterogeneous architecture, mobility models, and transmission interfaces. Results show that some protocols suffer long time-to-live (TTL), while others suffer short TTL. We show that heterogeneous sensor network architectures need heterogeneous routing algorithms, such as a combination of Epidemic and Spray and Wait
Hybrid Dynamic Source Routing Technique and Security Implementation in Adhoc Network Topology
Routing protocols that are developed with the error-prone environment and resource constraints of mobile nodes in mind perform better in wireless Ad Hoc environments. A good and dependable routing method is required to meet the packet transition aim. When the network is small, most existing routing algorithms operate fine, but when the network is large, there is a problem with link breakage in multipath routing algorithms, especially on demand routing algorithms. As a result, we investigated many forms of routing protocols in order to identify all of the existing algorithms' flaws. In this study, we examine existing protocols in terms of network factors such as delay, throughput, energy consumption, control overhead, and so on
Designing of routing algorithms in autonomous distributed data transmission system for mobile computing devices with 'WiFi-Direct' technology
The results of the research of existent routing protocols in wireless networks and their main features are discussed in the paper. Basing on the protocol data, the routing protocols in wireless networks, including search routing algorithms and phone directory exchange algorithms, are designed with the 'WiFi-Direct' technology. Algorithms without IP-protocol were designed, and that enabled one to increase the efficiency of the algorithms while working only with the MAC-addresses of the devices. The developed algorithms are expected to be used in the mobile software engineering with the Android platform taken as base. Easier algorithms and formats of the well-known route protocols, rejection of the IP-protocols enables to use the developed protocols on more primitive mobile devices. Implementation of the protocols to the engineering industry enables to create data transmission networks among working places and mobile robots without any access points
An Axiomatic Approach to Routing
Information delivery in a network of agents is a key issue for large, complex
systems that need to do so in a predictable, efficient manner. The delivery of
information in such multi-agent systems is typically implemented through
routing protocols that determine how information flows through the network.
Different routing protocols exist each with its own benefits, but it is
generally unclear which properties can be successfully combined within a given
algorithm. We approach this problem from the axiomatic point of view, i.e., we
try to establish what are the properties we would seek to see in such a system,
and examine the different properties which uniquely define common routing
algorithms used today.
We examine several desirable properties, such as robustness, which ensures
adding nodes and edges does not change the routing in a radical, unpredictable
ways; and properties that depend on the operating environment, such as an
"economic model", where nodes choose their paths based on the cost they are
charged to pass information to the next node. We proceed to fully characterize
minimal spanning tree, shortest path, and weakest link routing algorithms,
showing a tight set of axioms for each.Comment: In Proceedings TARK 2015, arXiv:1606.0729
A Survey on Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network Routing Protocols
Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) have become more and more important in ocean exploration applications, such as ocean monitoring, pollution detection, ocean resource management, underwater device maintenance, etc. In underwater acoustic sensor networks, since the routing protocol guarantees reliable and effective data transmission from the source node to the destination node, routing protocol design is an attractive topic for researchers. There are many routing algorithms have been proposed in recent years. To present the current state of development of UASN routing protocols, we review herein the UASN routing protocol designs reported in recent years. In this paper, all the routing protocols have been classified into different groups according to their characteristics and routing algorithms, such as the non-cross-layer design routing protocol, the traditional cross-layer design routing protocol, and the intelligent algorithm based routing protocol. This is also the first paper that introduces intelligent algorithm-based UASN routing protocols. In addition, in this paper, we investigate the development trends of UASN routing protocols, which can provide researchers with clear and direct insights for further research
